iLife Systems
Challenge
Needed a virtual engineering and product development partner as core element of their business.
Solution
HWI was selected over ten
years ago to serve as iLife's engineering department. This has included preliminary
research, clinical trials in Brussels, Belgium, and assistance with the FDA
510k drafting and submission. Product development tasks have included electrical,
mechanical, RF, firmware, and software design, as well as prototyping and pilot
production.
Some of the products HWI has designed with iLife have included infant apnea
monitors, fall detection devices, wireless transceivers, non-contact infrasound
breath detection, and fall prevention devices.
Key Benefits
iLife Systems has been able to maintain minimal overhead and "flex" their R&D budget based on changing business needs and constraints. Through the course of the relationship, there have been over 20 patents awarded orin process, as well as registration of the customer's quality system to ISO-9001, EN-46001 and MDD Annex II.
